"In the beginning God created the

- Genesis 1:1 |

The Foundation of Reality |
|
|
The opening verse of the Bible is the bedrock of all correct religion, philosophy or worldview.
The pre-existent God created everything that can be created including time, physical forces and spiritual beings. As John says, “without him nothing was made that has been made..” (John 1:3)
Along with this foundational principle comes the understanding that all wisdom, all knowledge,
all morality, all truth, all life, all growth, all hope, all eternity and any faith that is trustworthy will
rest in God the creator and sustainer of everything. |

"No child of God sins to that degree as to make himself incapable of forgiveness."

According to
Edward Gibbon, in his classic work,
The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire,
there were five major
causes for the decline and
fall of the Roman empire.
1. The breakdown of the family and the increase of divorce.
2. The spiraling rise of taxes and extravagant spending.
3. The mounting desire for pleasure and the
brutalization of sports.
4. The continual production of armaments to face ever increasing threats of
enemy attacks.
5. The decay of religion into many confusing forms, leaving the people without a uniform faith.
It is very significant that these factors exist today.

Liwyatan (Hb) - Leviathan (Eng) - liwyatan is the Hebrew for Leviathan and is mentioned
six times in the Old Testament (Job 3:8; 41:1; Psalm 74:14; 104:26; Isaiah 27:1). The word
liwyatan comes from the root word lwy which means “to twist,” and “to coil.”
Leviathan is portrayed in Egyptian reliefs similar to a crocodile having four legs and a long tail.
But, the biblical description of liwyatan in Isaiah 27:1 and Psalm 74:14 describe Leviathan
as having many heads, twisting like a serpent and fleeing. In other ancient text from the
Middle East around 1200-1300 BC describe Leviathan as a sea creature similar to Isaiah and
Asaph (Ps. 74:14). The Bible agrees with the writings of the ancient world that use Leviathan
to describe a powerful rebel force of chaos from the earliest days of earth that fought with Yahweh. Leviathan is seen defeated and subdued in creation (Ps. 74:13-14; Isaiah 51), yet part of the
kosmos today (Job 40:15; Psalm 104:26), and will be cease to exist when the
Day of the Lord (Yahweh) is here (Isaiah chapter 2 and 27:1). |

The Church of the Holy Sepulcher marks the location of Calvary and the Garden tomb. Archaeology has shown that this was the site of a quarry that had been abandoned by the time of Christ and was covered with dirt to make a garden where tombs where cut into rock during New Testament times. There are several reasons why we know this to be the place of the crucifixion, burial and the resurrection.
In 117 AD Roman Emperor Hadrian persecuted the Jews and the Christians with taxation to aid in the worship of Pagan gods and restrictions on Jewish and Christian worship. Hadrian also buried the garden tomb and calvary by covering it with a pagan shrine and erecting a statue of Venus over calvary and Jupiter over the tomb. But, 200 years later when Constantine wanted to honor the site of Jesus’ passion the people of Jerusalem led Helena (Constantine's mother) to Hadrian's pagan shrine which was, by this time, inside the city walls that had expanded during the days of Herod Agrippa I (45 AD) and Hadrian (135 AD). The structure and dirt where removed to reveal Calvary and the Garden tomb.
Today first century tombs cut into the abandoned quarry can still be seen inside the Church of the Holy Seplucher.

Do I see God in everything? Do I understand God to be as contemporary as he is ancient?
I will allow the Creator to be recognized in every part of my world:
physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually. |

There are four quadrants of life. Sometimes we are in prosperity or poverty as a direct result of our actions or decisions. Or, there are times we are in prosperity or
poverty because of situations that were forced upon us.
We can develop faith and can be transformed into
the image of Christ in each of these quadrants.
