Rebuilding the Temple

Ezra 1 – The Jews are allowed to return in 538 BC

Ezra 3:1 – In Sept. of 537 the Jews that returned rebuild the altar

Ezra 4 – Opposition to the Jews causes them to stop building temple

Haggai 1:2-15 – God sends a message to Haggai to remind people to build

Message came to Haggai on August 29, 520

Building of temple resumed 24 days later on Sept. 21, 520

The temple was completed in 516 in Ezra 6:13
