Availability

 

Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge.”

 

Set Aside Your Will and Desires for God’s Will and Spiritual Desires (John 4)

The disciples were not available because they were consumed with their physical needs.

Jesus was satisfied with being available and doing God’s will more than with getting a drink of water.

 

“Do not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’?  I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields!  They are ripe for harvest.’”  John 4:35

 

  1. Willingness – Isaiah (Is. 6:8)
    1. The work is there but God is looking for willing workers
    2. The work that needs to be done is of a great variety

                                                               i.      1 Cor.12:4

  1. Recognize the Need – David (1 Samuel 16:13; 17:37)
    1. Anyone could have none the work
    2. David did not wait for is “calling” but met the need
    3. David was a shepherd, a supply deliverer and a harpist but not yet a warrior.
  2. Let the Spoken Word Come to Pass – Mary (Luke 1:38)
    1. God has a plan.  Let him speak it.
    2. 1 Timothy 4:14
  3. Obey - Elijah (1 Kings 17:2, 3, 8, 9)
    1. Don’t make your own decisions
    2. Paul in Acts 20:22; 21:4, 9, 10, 11)
  4. Self Sacrifice – Moses (Hebrews 11:25, 26)
  5. Committed to the Point of Death – Esther (Esther 4:16)
    1. All else is not worthy of your life
  6. Not measured by Human Standards – Paul (2 Timothy 4:16)
    1. Do not let people measure your success
    2. If you live by #1-6 know that your reward is there in the end                        (2 Timothy 4:6-8)
