November 17 - Morning
"Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this
way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks
they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone,
without comparing themselves to someone else,
for each one should carry their own load."
- Galatians 6:1-5 |

Paul continues to talk about the life of a believer living by the Spirit, and not by the flesh. As is seen in Galatians 5:20, half of the works of the flesh that Paul lists deal with conflict between believers:
“…hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy…” – Galatians 5:20
In Galatians 6 Paul describes the spiritual believer as one who can navigate his way through difficult and tense situations with wisdom, strength and gentleness. The result he brings by living by the Spirit is assistance, restoration and productive lives.
The first illustration Paul uses is of a believer who is suddenly “caught” (or, overtaken”) in a sin. This wrong doing is an isolated situation, and not a willingly sinful lifestyle or a settled course of action. The mature, spiritual man will “restore that person gently.” The word “restore” is from a Greek word that means “to make perfect,” or “to equip” (it is also used in Hebrews 13:21) and here carries the meaning of setting the sinning man right again.
The second illustration is the “law of Christ,” not the “Law of Moses.” In Galatians 6:2 Paul says that to “carry each other’s burdens” is to fulfill the “law of Christ.” The word “burdens” is the plural of the Greek word baros. This word refers to a burden, or a load, that is very heavy; in fact, it is a load too heavy for one man to carry. The spiritual man who is mature and producing the fruit of the Spirit will help this man carry his “burdens.”
This is in contrast to the word “burden,” or “load,” in Galatians 6:5 where Paul says concerning the mature, spiritual man, “each one should carry their own load.” The difference is clearly seen in the Greek words since the word for “burden” here is phortion. This is a military term for a man’s pack or a soldier’s personal kit. “Load” in Galatians 6:5 refers to a burden that each man is expected to carry himself. The spiritual man will not expect someone else help him carry his own personal responsibilities |

The Apostle’s Creed
was set at the Council of Trent during the years 1545-1563:
1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of
heaven and earth:
2. And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son,
our Lord:
3. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the
Virgin Mary:
4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified,
dead and buried: He descended into hell:
5. The third day he rose again from the dead:
6. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand
of God the Father Almighty:
7. From thence he shall come to judge the quick
and the dead:
8. I believe in the Holy Spirit:
9. I believe in the holy catholic (universal) church: the communion of saints:
10. The forgiveness of sins:
11. The resurrection of the body:
12. And the life everlasting. Amen. |

The early Christians met in houses or homes of individual believers who had larger, more spacious homes. These churches groups that met
in homes of individuals
are mentioned in:
Romans 16:3-5, Priscilla and Aquila's house.
Romans 16:10-11, Aristobulus' house; and, Narcissus' house
Romans 16:14-15, The list includes these people who either met in two groups or possibly each had a church meeting in their house:
1) Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas
2) Philologus, Julia, Nereus, Olympas.
First Corinthians 16:19, Aquila and Priscilla also had a house in Corinth where the church met, besides in their house in Rome!!
Colossians 4:15, the church of Laodicea met in the house of Nympha.
Philemon 2, Philemon's house; and, the house of Apphia and Archippus
Second John 10-11, false teachers where to be kept out of these house churches |

I will help others who are burdened by loads too heavy to carry.
I will identify my own responsibilities for myself and take care of them myself
without being a burden to others. |
