June 11 - Morning
"I will open my mouth with a parable;
I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
things we have heard and known,
things our ancestors have told us.
We will not hide them from their descendants;
we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
to teach their children,
so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands."
- Psalms 78:2-7 |

Instruct the Children and Teach the Next Generation |
|
|
Psalm 78 is an admonition to share the hidden information from the days of old with the next generation and a reminder to teach children about the Lord, the Lord’s works and the Lord’s ways.
The reason for this is explained in Psalm 78:7-9. If this information is made available to the children and these hidden truths are declared to their generation “they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.” (Psalm 78:7) A generation in possession of this knowledge “would not be like their forefathers – a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God” who “turned back on the day of battle; they did not keep God’s covenant and refused to live by his law” because “they forgot what he had done.” (Psalm 78:8-9)
The knowledge of the story of God and the understanding of the Lord’s deeds fuels the faith of a generation. Possession of the truth of God unlocks parables and ancient riddles that provide direction and wisdom for life.
So, teach the children. |

Buddhism in the U.S. is primarily made up of native-born adherents, whites and converts. Only one-in-three American Buddhists describe their race as Asian, while nearly three-in-four Buddhists say they are converts to Buddhism.
