Nazareth

We visited here but I felt no need to take any photos. The traffic in the streets was
bumper to bumper and almost unruly. The church was well designed and
had a lot of traditions but I was not interested in this location. Nazareth is
an Arab city. The Muslims are attempting to build a mosque directly
beside the church dedicated to the site where Gabriel spoke to Mary. That
would be an intersting combination. The church itself is surrounded with artistic
pieces of Mary dedicated to the church from, what seems like, every nation
of the world including the United States. While we were at the church we
watched a catholic service in Spanish that ended with singing to guitars.
During our time here we lost one of the members of our group and
left them there hoping they had enough money for a
taxi to get them out of the Muslim town alone.

Dr. Carl Rasmussen comes through once again with some great photos of the church and the city: http://holylandphotos.org/browse.asp?s=1,2,5,36,182
